The Town of Columbia is hiring for a Tax Collector. This is a part-time position at 28 hours per week. The schedule is as follows: Monday through Wednesday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Thursday from 8:00 am to Noon. The hourly rate is $37.00 an hour.

The Tax Collector manages the municipal revenue collection operation. Performs high-level professional work related to revenue collection of municipal taxes and statutory responsibilities of the tax collection office along with related administrative work. 

QUALIFICATIONS: Desirable skills and knowledge include that which would generally be acquired with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Public Administration, or a closely related field with at least four (4) years’ experience in tax collection work or an equivalent combination of experience and training. The employee must have advanced computer skills. The employee must be a Certified Connecticut Municipal Collector (CCMC). 

This position is eligible to receive benefits from the Town of Columbia. This includes but is not limited to vacation time, sick time, and holiday pay as well as participation in the Town’s health plan, 401a plan and the 457 plan.
