U.S Passports

The Town of Columbia is a Passport Acceptance Facility, accepting applications for new passports and passports that have been expired for 5 or more years. The Passport Acceptance Agents for Columbia are located in the Office of Building and Land Use (downstairs). The times that passports are accepted for processing are generally Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, by appointment only. Furthermore, customers should arrive with necessary documentation and with an application that has been completed as much as possible in black ink (do not sign or attach the photo). No. Passport application fees must be paid via a check payable to the "U.S. Department of State". The execution fees can be paid with cash or a check payable to Town of Columbia.

No, the town does not take photos for passport applications. Most local AAA, Walgreens and CVS's take passport photos.

Proper and acceptable forms of identification must: readily identify the applicant, have a signature, contain a photo or physical description, not be altered or changed. Examples: U.S. passport, drivers license, military ID, FAA pilot's license, Certificate of Naturalization.  Visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html for more information.

You will need a passport photo, check payment (no credits cards), valid photo identification, evidence of citizenship and a completed application.  Additional documents may be required, such as marriage license, divorce decree, legal name change, etc.  Original documents with raised seal required (certified copies with raised seal can be obtained from the respective town's Clerk).  Please visit travel.state.gov for requirements.

A passport book may be used for international travel by air, land and sea. A passport card is only valid when entering the U.SW. by land and sea from Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda. NOT valid for international air travel.

People with evidence of U.S. citizenship may apply. Examples are: U.S. birth certificate (long form with seal and parents information), previous U.S. passport, Certificate of Naturalization, citizenship certificate, certificate of U.S. birth abroad.
