The Town of Columbia is hiring for the position of Assistant Tax Collector. This is specialized clerical work involving receiving and recording monies in payment of taxes.
This position is part-time at 22 hours per week. The schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Thursday from noon to 6:00 pm. The hourly rate is $25.00 an hour.
Work involves responsibility for receiving payments for taxes, making change, issuing receipts and balancing and recording daily receipts. Duties include operating a cash register, calculator and answering taxpayer questions. This position also has the responsibility for making routine tax clerical decisions. The work requires that the employee have some knowledge, skill and ability in standard office practices, data input and dealing with the public.
This position is eligible to receive benefits from the Town of Columbia. This includes but is not limited to vacation time, sick time, and holiday pay as well as participation in the Town’s health plan, 401a plan and the 457 plan.
