The Eastern Highland Health Distric provides a multitude of service to the Town of Columbia, includinge septic system inspection and approval; well and water quality monitoring; food protection; lead investigations; radon prevention; public bathing area monitoring; and public health complaint investigations. The District also has a communicable disease control program for disease surveillance and outbreak investigation, and an expanding public health education and training program. Other public health functions conducted by the district include data collection, analysis, and health planning activities.
Glenn Bagdoian, RS is the Sanitarian assigned by the Eastern Highland Health District to the Town of Columbia. His office hours in Columbia are Monday and Thursday 1:30pm to 3:30pm. however due to field work he may not be in the office during that time. Please call him at 860-649-8066 x108 for an appointment.

More about the EHHD
The EHHD is one of 19 local Health Districts in the state. Established in 1997, it serves Columbia, Andover, Ashford, Bolton, Chaplin, Coventry, Mansfield, Scotland, Tolland, and Willington. A Board of Directors, representing each member town, governs the Health District. A Director of Health acts as the chief executive officer of the EHHD and as a agent of the State Commissioner of Public Health.
