VOTER REGISTRATION SESSION:

Friday, October 18th, 9am - 8pm

LIMITED Voter Registration Session:  

Monday, November 4th, 9am-5pm -- Open only to those seeking to vote in the election whose qualification  as to age, citizenship or residence was attained since the Oct. 18th session.

 

ID AND PROOF OF RESIDENCY ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER.
ALL VOTER REGISTRATION SESSIONS WILL BE HELD IN YEOMANS HALL.

Register to Vote in Connecticut

To register to vote in Connecticut you must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be a resident of a Connecticut town
  • Be at least 18 years of age on or before the next election
  • Have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony and have had your voting rights restored by Registrar

 

How to Register to Vote or change your Voter Registration information:

(If you want to change your Voter Registration information, you will need to fill out a new voter registration card)

  • Register online at voterregistration.ct.gov
  • Click here to print a Voter Registration card.  Fill it out completely and mail it to our office.
  • Stop in the Town Clerk's office during regular business hours (M-W 8am-4pm; Thurs 8am-6pm; Fri 8am-12pm)
  • Call or email our office with your name and mailing address and we will mail a registration card to you.

  • Be sure to review registration deadlines for each Election or Primary below.

Once you submit your completed registration card, you should receive a confirmation letter from our office within 1-2 weeks.

General Election Registration Deadlines

  • Based on current statutory requirements, you must be registered at least 7 days before a general November Election. You may register from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the day before any Election if you turn 18, become a U.S. citizen, or have just moved into the town after the 7-day deadline.
  • If you missed a deadline, you may register to vote and vote during Election Day Registration held on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

 

Primary Elections

  • If you are a new voter or joining a party from an unaffiliated status:
    • Your application must be postmarked by the 5th day before a Primary (or received by your Registrar of Voters or a voter registration agency by the 5th day before a primary).
    • You also can apply in person to any Registrar of Voters Office until 12 Noon on the last business day before a Primary.
  • If you are in One Major party and want to join another Major party, the deadline to switch parties is 3 months before a Primary (there is a 3 month waiting time until your rights have matured).
  • There is no Election Day Registration during a Primary Election.

 


 

Did you know?

There is a difference between Independent and Unaffiliated.  The Independent Party is a recognized minor party in the state of Connecticut.
