The Town of Columbia Youth Rec Basketball has programming for boys and girls in kindergarten through 8th grade.
Age divisions are:
K-1st: Recreation basketball for participants in K - 1st grade. Saturdays, 8 - 9 AM beginning December. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of basketball. Emphasis placed on learning basketball skills and having fun.
2nd: Recreation basketball for participants in 2nd grade. Saturdays, 9 - 10 AM beginning December. Participants will learn the fundamentals of basketball and be introduced to game play as the season progresses. Emphasis is placed on learning basketball skills and having fun.
3rd/4th Boys: Recreation basketball for boys in grades 3 and 4. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized, with the added piece of competition against other towns.
3rd/4th Girls: Recreation basketball for girls in grades 3 and 4. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning in December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized, with the added piece of competition against other towns.
5th/6th Boys: Recreation basketball for Boys in grades 5 and 6. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning in December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized, with more game knowledge and learning added with the competition against other towns.
5th/6th Girls: Recreation basketball for Girls in grades 5 and 6. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning in December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized, with more game knowledge and learning added with the competition against other towns.
7th/8th Boys: Recreation basketball for Boys in grades 7 and 8. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning in December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized along with game knowledge, strategy and team and individual development. Competition is against other league towns.
7th/8th Girls: Recreation basketball for Girls in grades 7 and 8. Weekly one hour practice(s) with games on Saturdays beginning in December. Basketball fundamentals and fun continue to be emphasized along with game knowledge, strategy and team and individual development. Competition is against other league towns.
