This 133-acre portion of the Szegda Farm was acquired by the Town of Columbia on May 12, 2008 after several years of cooperative effort by the Szegda family, the town’s Board of Selectmen, the Open Space Committee, and the State of Connecticut. It was the goal of all involved to see this land dedicated as open space so that the town’s agricultural heritage could be honored, its natural resources protected, and citizens given an additional area for passive recreation.
Szegda Farm Community Garden: For more information on the community garden and how to sign up for a plot please visit the Community Garden tab on the Recreation Department page, or go to Forms and Permits page on the town's website.
