FRACKING WASTE

Public Information Meeting & Discussion regarding Fracking Waste will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at 7pm at Yeomans Hall located at 323 Route 87, Columbia, CT.

Coventry was the first CT town to pass ordinance language in the state (which directly relates to banning fracking waste).  This language is now law in 20 of 21 CT towns with fracking waste bans see the map & examples of Ordinance language from neighboring towns in the document section below!

CT Legislation:

  • House Bill 6329 (click here)- An Act Concerning Hydraulic Fracturing Waste in Connecticut. 
    • Passed overwhelmingly in the House 141-6 but vetoed in the Senate
    • Citizen action groups claim that the House Bill only addresses one type of extraction process - gas. HB 6329 disregards byproducts from oil extraction methods. See the info graphic in the document section below for more details.
