As part of our Eversource's cyclical Transmission Vegetation Management, Eversource will be using a helicopter to trim vegetation within the right of way in rural and remote areas in Columbia starting March 7, 2022.
Over the years, Eversource has learned that the fastest and most efficient way to trim trees in difficult to access areas and remote locations is by using a helicopter. Eversource is able to complete the required work in the air, using limited equipment and vehicles on the ground in the right of way, resulting in fewer impacts to residents and environmentally sensitive areas. The helicopter will skip over any manicured areas or properties with homes nearby.
The helicopter will work within the right of way, flying across the following roads:
- Columbia: West Street Ext., Lake Road, Hennequin Rd, Middletown Road (Rt. 66), and Jonathan Trumbull Highway (Rt. 87).
- Manchester: Keeney Street, Shallowbrook Road.
- Glastonbury: Manchester Road (Rt. 83), Mountain Road and Birch Mountain Road.
- Hebron: North Street (Rt. 85) and East Street.
- Andover: Gilead Road, Cone Road and Hebron Road (Rt.316).
- Lebanon: Cook Hill Road.
The schedule is between Monday, March 7 and Saturday, March 12. This schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
